Refurbished AirPods vs AirPods Pro: Which One Should You Buy?

Should you buy used & refurbished AirPods or AirPods Pros?

Used & refurbished AirPods vs AirPods Pro

Which refurbished AirPods should you buy?

So you’re an Apple fan and want the best deal on used & refurbished AirPods, but which ones should you get? The more expensive AirPods Pros or just the traditional AirPods?

Refurbished AirPods vs AirPods Pro: Performance

The “Pro” name is there for a reason. The used & refurbished AirPods Pros will give you better sound quality and more bass than the original AirPods, but they won’t be as comfortable to wear since they sit inside your ear canal as opposed to just nesting on the outside of your ear.

Although this really is a matter of preference so you may disagree with me regarding which one is more comfortable, but nonetheless it is a factor to keep in mind.

If you don’t already have a pair of premium headphones and want the best possible sound, these are the refurbished AirPods you should probably get.

In addition, if you do a lot of flying or want noise cancelling, these are also the best choice for you. However, don’t expect them to last the whole flight if you’re traveling across the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean, since they only have about 4.5 hours of battery life.

Refurbished AirPods vs AirPods Pro: Wear and comfort

Since the AirPods sit on the outside of the ear and don’t need a perfect seal inside the ear canal, they’re generally better for sports and other activities (in my opinion).

And the crucial bit here is that everybody’s ears are slightly different. The original refurbished AirPods are a great fit for my ears, but others complain that they don’t sit quite right.

Regardless, I find it annoying how the AirPods Pro move around inside the ear canal during runs, and how I need to keep shoving them in deeper so that they don’t totally slide out.

And even though the AirPods Pro have a “transparency” mode that lets you hear ambient sound, this still isn’t as good as the ambient sound you hear in the original AirPods.

This is thanks to the fact that they don’t fully block out all sound since they don’t form a seal inside the ear.

Refurbished AirPods vs AirPods Pro: Ultimately an easy choice

So, yeah, this really isn’t that hard of a choice: would you rather have better sound quality while sacrificing comfort and cost (refurbished AirPods Pro) or more comfort at a better price but with a slightly less juicy sound palette (refurbished AirPods)?

If I had to choose between one and the other, I’d probably just get the original refurbished AirPods, but depending on your needs, perhaps the Pro model is a better choice for you.

Are refurbished AirPods worth it?

Just like with any refurbished product, you need to see how much of a discount you can really find on the refurbished AirPods that you want. Refurbished AirPods have the same performance as new models, and many refurbished products found on our site have barely been used.

Is it better to get refurbished or used AirPods?

It's always better to get a refurbished set of AirPods from an official retailer than buying a used pair from a random third party. Refurbished products usually come with good warranties and money-back guarantees.

Is it OK to buy refurbished AirPods?

As long as you're buying from a trusted retailer that has a formal return and warranty policy, refurbished AirPods are a great bargain that can last you for many years.
