Was really excited to finally be getting a laptop after having my previous one for about 7-8 years. Wanted to stick with the dell 2-in-1's because I love the touch screen and the set up. But it's been one problem after another with this laptop. I'm more than willing to admit that it's entirely possible that the problem lies with Dell and the model rather than BackMarket. However, it's also possible that the problem is due to whatever reason the laptop was sold and refurbished for in the first place. First off, no one explains to you that if you're using a laptop that runs Windows 11, 8GB of RAM is no where near enough anymore. I would be running one Mozilla Firefox browser with 6 tabs and then my Microsoft OneNote for my school notes and after a day of being on, that alone brought my memory use up to 99% and I would be forced to restart the laptop to get anything to work. At first I had no idea why it was running so slow despite being so new, even my 8+ year old laptop wasn't that bad. I contacted support and while the person was incredibly kind and wanting to help, they were ultimately at the mercy of Dell responding to them and it amounted to nothing, never getting a response from the manufacturer. I was lucky to have a friend who was tech-savy to know how to figure out the problem and I had to manually upgrade my RAM. If that had been my only problem, I would've been fine and still more than pleased with my laptop. But then all of a sudden, the cursor was acting weird. Moving and responding to the touchpad queues just fine, but it was like nothing on my screen was able to be highlighted to be clicked on/interacted with. If I was on a web page I could scroll and move around just fine. But if I wanted to switch to another browser or open up my files or a microsoft word doc, all of a sudden I wouldn't be able to click on anything. Restarting would help, but literally for only 5-10 minutes before it would happen all over again. So far the only solution I randomly found was doing the trusty ctrl+alt+delete and opening task manager. For some reason opening that up and then exiting it makes it all work again. How long it takes for the problem to start again is as good a guess as any. No pattern to reason to it. And now, the final problem that once again, started out of nowhere. All of a sudden, the touchpad itself started acting weird. It didn't stop working completely, but I almost wish that it had, because then at least that issue would have a likely way to fix it. I'll go to use it, and instead of moving smoothly, it's erratic and glitching out, right-clicking on its own, lagging and skipping all over, or barely responding at all. It looks like others have had this issue recently with no luck of fixing it and hoping that Dell will replace the laptop or refund them after multiple send-ins for repair that ultimately don't last. And I've tried everything recommended. Restarting the device, trying to update the touchpad driver, uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, changing the settings. Nothing solved it. But my bluetooth mouse works just fine. Have sent in a request to BackMarket to see what my options are because this laptop has ultimately just been a nightmare, especially when I'm in the middle of graduate-level school and rely on having my laptop everyday for class and studying.
