EDIT: BE AWARE THAT THE STAR RATINGS ARE CALCULATED AS AN AVERAGE. If someone says the product was a single star but that other aspects of the experience were better it is reflected as an average of those ratings. They don’t show the breakdown, and this artificially inflates the overall score.
We discovered another issue with the volume, which would reduce all on its own. Sound quality overall was bad (possibly just the original phone?).
Customer support was prompt and getting a return was eventually easy once we decided that was what we wanted. It was impossible to speak to a representative on the phone (I tried), which lengthened the process out by several days, but the chat process was fine.
Overall, our experience resulted in several days without a phone, and eventually switching back to the old one, which we cannot return my wife’s data to because it’s all been updated to an incompatible os generation in the process. Although we got a refund, that doesn’t make up for the time wasted, nor the inconvenience she continues to experience. DO NOT DELETE DATA ON YOUR OLD DEVICE UNTIL YOU HAVE USED THE NEW ONE FOR SEVERAL DAYS. There is no system in place to help with issues besides referring you to problem-solving articles, which was insufficient in our case. We shouldn’t have to fix the phone when it arrives. It should come “professionally refurbished” as promised.
Previous Review:
We’ve just discovered (after wiping our old phone and switching all data over to the new one) that the “new” iPhone camera is incapable of focusing. Going through the process of problem solving and a possible return. Will update on how that went later. I’m quite angry to discover their system is obstructive to bad reviews.
I’ve bought several products from backmarket in the past, and been quite happy with them–aside from less than optimal battery performance on my macbook.
I bought this iPhone for my wife, and was disappointed. We payed for an iPhone in “Good” condition. It arrived with immediately visible silver scratching around the edges (even when held at arms length), small scratches on the screen (which are thankfully not visible from a normal usage distance) and was covered in fingerprints across its entire surface. It clearly had not been “professionally cleaned” nor had it been kept in a case. There was grime deep in available crevices (as one would expect from several years of use).
My final complaint is that the battery life was at 80%. My other complaints are inconsistent with the promised condition, and I recognize that 80% is the minimum promised, but given the other issues and the additional money spent for a phone in “Good” condition I was disappointed to be given a phone that was dirty, scratched, AND provided only the minimum promised battery life. The phone struggles to charge and manages only a few hours (between 2 and 3) of screen time on a full battery.
We are both frustrated to receive a product that clearly wasn’t well considered or given the promised care. I’m reaching out about return options, since we’re having trouble getting the data back on the old iPhone. Will update on how that process goes.
