Great experience. Product was 100% as advertised. In fact you'd be hard pressed to tell the 7 year old MacBook Air i ordered was not brand new - it was impeccably clean with no visible scratches or wear. Battery life is good and i have not run into anything that does not work properly. Have to say pretty impressive for a business that likely runs on low margins - someone knows what they're doing and cares. Better still it is GREAT to see old machines get reused rather than tossed on the pile at our dumps.

Device works great and is mostly as advertised. Came fast and in very good and protective packaging. However I paid significatly more for "Premium" condition. This is advertised to have near perfect condition and no scratch especially on the screen. But mine had a scratch on the screen and few on the back. While these scratches were extremly minor and virtually impossible to see and I could care less, its more a matter of principle. So for the buyer, I would recommend getting the Premium or Excellent condition and would not dable with Fair or Good. Despite this I will ABSOLUTLY be back for more from BackMarket. Awesome company and great mission. Telling all my friends too :)

Came with a bit of dust, had sent but that was to be expected! the space bar was a bit blemished so you had to put more pressure for it to work. the battery did run down quick but that might just be the apps i was using. but over all, it does the job!!

For a "fair" condition, it was very good. You can see a few scratches on the edges, but the screen, keyboard, and touchpad are in perfect condition.

I am a residential smart home integrator, and I often suggest customers to purchase refurbished iPads to run control system applications. Normally, I will just let my customers purchase on their own at Backmarket, but I am now starting to specify refurbished iPads as lower-cost alternatives to proliferate several iPads house-wide in my system proposals. Unfortunately, I have lost faith in Backmarket. That is a sad thing. Initially, I had a couple customers purchase iPads from Backmarket, and they advised me afterwards of their positive experiences. I then subsequently ordered an iPad in “excellent” condition a year ago for my mother, and it came in a nice-looking Apple-branded package for her birthday. The order came on-time and in very good shape. The contents and box looked identical to the Apple Store. In the recent past, the purchase experiences began to sour. I ordered an iPad mini for our showroom in September, and it arrived late, and the iPad was literally shipped in a brown box with no protection around the iPad, so the iPad was swimming around in the cardboard box insert, banging thousands of times 1/8” inside the corrugated brown box. Presently, I am suffering through a horrible experience with your service, mostly stemming from dishonesty and bad-faith. Over a week ago, I ordered a nice MacBook Pro for my wife’s Christmas gift. I ordered the MacBook early on 12/10/25, plenty of time to order/receive the product for Christmas. The product was purchased in “excellent” condition with an additional $30 paid for FedEx shipping. The order was COMPLETELY botched. After advising customer service three days after placing the order on the lacking shipment status, the order number was clandestinely changed thereafter, shipping changed, and nothing mentioned about it to me. A week later, I now have a MacBook with a lid scratch, lid pressure ding, poor packaging, and NOTHING CLOSE to what I would sell to a customer, let alone give as a gift to my wife for Christmas. I appreciate your business model, but it seems like the model is faltering, in which case I will look for other alternatives. Meanwhile, review the written findings below and see what you are able to do to, as it is up to you guys to prove your worth: 1) Remedy the situation 2) Make your company better 3) Gain trust 4) Achieve greatness in the long-run Here is the written report. Feel free to email me back with remedy. I sent photos that you can access by looking up the order numbers. Order #70839540 (initial order, subsequently changed to order #70838790 – clandestinely) Item is damaged, at minimum NOT in “excellent” condition. There is a pressure ding on the upper right corner near the lid, a visible scratch on the lid corner, poor packaging (cardboard box with bubble wrap), US Postal Service bag stuffed with accessories, and accessory power supply with sticky goo from prior sticker. This was a Christmas gift purchase for my wife, which was supposed to be a big deal. Now, my splashy gift moment is ruined by a product received in a crappy brown box, damaged with a lid scratch and pressure ding, accessory power supply with sticky residue, and brown cardboard packaging and US Postal Service bag stuffed with accessories, making this purchase akin to “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Issue #1: Order was not processed in a timely manner. Order was placed on 12/10/25. On the same 12/10/25 day, I received an order confirmation, stating the following: Order #70839540 Shipping estimate: Dec 11 - Dec 12 “Sellers may need up to 2 business days to prepare and ship your order. So if your order status still shows "Preparing" after a couple of days — don’t worry, that’s totally normal. You’ll receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking details as soon as it’s on its way” (Extra $30 paid for air shipping places receiving date sometime around 12/15 if sent on 12/12). Tracking the order on 12/11 and 12/12, tracking showed “Preparing.” No tracking available on 12/13, so I had to contact support with a complaint that the order was still sitting in limbo. The support representative then claimed the package was sent on-time, but his statement was misleading. I paid an extra $30 for Fed-Ex shipping, and the support representative admitted that the order was shipped via UPS. I paid extra to get the peace-of-mind knowing I can track the shipment via FedEx. Clearly, the shipment was already delayed, as I had to inquire on status, rather than receiving notification the order was shipped by the initial shipper, FedEx. Issue #2: Order was for FedEx fast freight, and the order was shipped UPS Ground. Furthermore, THE ITEM WAS SHIPPED UPS GROUND. The main reason to request faster shipping via FedEx is to avoid DAMAGE. I paid for quality shipping and received crappy ground shipping. Issue #3: Backmarket hid the problem and changed the order number. Additionally, Backmarket changed the order from Order #70839540 to Order #70838790. If the original order #70839540 were processed and made-whole, the order number would have remained #70839540. Instead, after inquiring with customer service, the order mysteriously changed to #70838790, a completely new order number, and no explanation from the same customer support agen who claimed the order went out fine. Issue #4: The item is damaged. The purchased product was purchased as a Christmas gift, so I went with “excellent” condition. What I received was not “excellent” in my mind. There was a noticeable scratch on the top right corner of the laptop lid, along with a compression dent nearby. This is NOT what I consider “excellent.” Also, as mentioned, the packaging was terrible. Summation: Backmarket behavior is sketchy. On 12/13, during the customer support conversation, at no time did the support representative advise me of any mistake, which would have been the correct course of action. Instead, the representative obfuscated the real situation, most likely that the initial product ordered was not available, or the product had not yet been refurbished and tested, perhaps caused by a different vendor than the one who later sent the shipment. This plausible theory is reinforced by the fact that there are TWO ORDER NUMBERS associated with this purchase, Order #70839540 and Order #70838790. Most likely, the eventual vendor on Order #70838790 grabbed a MacBook in “fair” condition to get it out the door. The original vendor on the original order #70839540 somehow failed. Summation from my last communication to customer support: This item was listed in "excellent" condition. Again, there is a pressure ding on the top left corner of the lid near the hinge, along with a tiny round scratch near the pressure ding. On a prior order, a year or so ago, an "excellent" condition iPad, the iPad came in an Apple box with the iPad wrapped nicely. This recent MacBook order came in a brown box with the laptop stuffed in bubble wrap. The power supply has sticker goo on it, and the accessory was in a leftover USPS plastic shipping envelope bag. Disgusting…. I'm supposed to give this as a gift to my wife, and I don't think it's up to the definition of "excellent." What's Backmarket's definition of "excellent"? Does this fit the description of "excellent"? I advised the customer support person that this unit should be sent back via FedEx, since I paid the extra $30 to receive fast freight. Instead, I received a packing slip to return UPS Ground. It’s as if your support people want to purposely embarrass themselves, as well as insult me. Management, it’s your opportunity to make this right. This is the worst purchase experience I have had in a long while, filled with mis-steps and slight-of-hand. The notion that your shipments on “excellent” quality tier would be shipped out by vendors in brown cardboard boxes, accessories shoved inside US Postal plastic bags, is downright appalling. If you care about your business and your customers, you would have an upper-level agent contact me immediately by email or phone to get a FedEx return slip emailed to me, along with the required assistance to get this order refunded immediately. Perhaps you can hear some good suggestions from a fellow business person.
