What does the Protection Plan cover?

The Protection Plan covers accidental damage from everyday use like drops, spills, cracked screens, water damage, plus manufacturing defects and breakdowns. Coverage also extends after your 1-year refurbisher's warranty expires. Not covered: theft and loss, cosmetic damage that doesn't affect your device's function (light scratches, minor scuffs), and intentional damage.

How is the Protection Plan different from the refurbisher’s warranty?

Your refurbisher’s warranty comes free with every purchase and covers manufacturing defects, which are any issues you noticed before you received the device. Our Protection Plan goes further: it covers accidental damage from everyday use and extends protection after your warranty expires.

Is there a service fee when I make a claim?

Our protection services provide up to 2 covered claims per term. Smartphone claims are subject to a fee, based on your smartphone's purchase price, paid by credit or debit card before repair or reimbursement. No fee applies to tablets, laptops, or other devices. Can I cancel my plan?

Yes. You can cancel your plan anytime. If you cancel after the 30-day withdrawal period, you'll receive a partial refund for the unused portion of your plan.

Can I purchase a Protection Plan after I purchase my device?

Yes. You can add a protection plan up to 30 days following the purchase of your device. Go to "Protection Plans" under your Back Market customer’s account to see if your device is still eligible.
