Join us at Leon’s Bagels on July 26 & 27 to trade in old tech for cash — and some schmear, too.

We’re all about building a circular economy. Bagels are all about being circles. So, we’re teaming up with Leon’s Bagels to make it easy for you to make cash on your old tech just in time for Back to School — and get a free bagel to boot.

Join us July 26 at 181 Mulberry St, New York, NY 10012 and July 27th at Leon’s Bagels Williamsburg at 258 Bedford Avenue.

How it works:

  • Bring your old tech and a bagel-shaped space in your tummy.

  • Chat with one of our on-site team members who will walk you through the trade-in process. You’ll need to create a Back Market account if you don’t already have one, but don’t worry — they can help you do that too!

  • One of our Back Market team members will walk you through the Trade-in process.

  • Once completed, you’ll receive an instant offer for your device.

  • If you accept, we will take your device, pack it up, and ship it to the seller on the spot.

  • Once the refurbisher receives your device, you’ll receive a direct deposit within 5 business days.

  • If for some reason your item isn’t eligible for trade-in, we can accept it to recycle — and you’ll get a free bagel either way.

The fine print:

  • We do not accept stolen, or counterfeit devices, or devices that have been blocked by a carrier (duh).

  • When the refurbisher receives your device, they’ll double check to make sure the condition matches the inspection.

  • If there’s a discrepancy, they might make you a new offer. You’ll get a notification in the app whether or not you want to accept it, and if you don’t, they’ll send it back to you.

Which electronics do not qualify for recycling at the event?

Before you schlep your tech, check to make sure your old tech is trade-in eligible. We take a wide range of devices, whether they’re in pristine or non-functional condition.

  • Computers (laptops & desktops, servers, mainframes)

  • Monitors (CRTs and flatscreens)

  • Handheld devices (smartphones, tablets, MP3 players, e-readers, etc.)

  • Network devices (routers, hubs, modems, etc.)

  • Peripherals (keyboards, mice, cables, cords, chargers, etc.)

  • Components (hard drives, CD-ROMs, circuit boards, power supplies, etc.)

  • Printers, scanners, fax machines

  • TVs, VCRs, DVRs, DVD & Blu-ray Players

  • Digital converter boxes, cable/satellite receivers

  • Video game consoles and accessories

  • Cell phones, pagers, PDAs

  • Audio-visual equipment (cameras, microphones, stereo equipment, etc.)

The following items require a little more TLC to be properly recycled, which means we won’t be able to accept them at the event:

  • Batteries (except lead-acid batteries from uninterrupted power supplies systems)

  • Media (disks, DVDs, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, etc.)

If you’re looking to recycle batteries, rechargeable batteries can be dropped off for recycling at any store that sells them – in fact, it’s the law in New York City! You can also visit the NYC Sanitation’s Battery Disposal website to see what city-run battery disposal locations are closest to you.

If you’d like to recycle media, check out www.greendisk.com.
