Restoring apps and settings from a Pixel 8 to the new Pixel 8 was far from intuitive or even reasonably quick, but we eventually got there. Upgrading from a Pixel 6 to the second Pixel 8 was eventful in an unhappy way. The Missus lost her Facebook account to the upgrade when Meta flagged the move as a hacking attempt and would not acknowledge her as the rightful owner despite being provided with "selfies" from 5 angles and copies of her driver's license and passport. Their response was "cannot verify with the provided information." While the P8 is like my previous phone the new phone was one update further than the old P8 it replaced so some things required adjusting to. Overall we are happy with the device itself though the Missus says the smaller screen is an odd tradeoff for a marginal if perceptible speed difference. She also noted the P6's battery was superior. To the latter i have my doubts since the replacement P8 is OBVIOUSLY not as long lived on a charge as the unit it replaced. The P8 is a nice phone with all the bells and whistles; without all the bloatwear. We both like the P8 and our grandson who inherited the old P6 is in nirvana utilizing a PS4 controller to play Minecraft Bedrock Edition on the P6. We may have created a monster. The "good condition" phones arrived wrapped in bubble wrap with an aftermarket charger and cable for each. One of the cables was DOA. The phones were nearly perfect cosmetically. I suspect neither battery was replaced/reconditioned as both phones arrived fully discharged. One of the two needed to be charged on my 43 watt charger to 'wake it up' so charging and data transfer could begin. The other, when plugged in, immediately showed the discharged battery icon with the little red line at the bottom. Both eventually charged to an indicated 100% on the device. Following the on screen setup instructions should have allowed phone to phone transfer of settings and apps, but it didn't and I spent hours downloading, installing, and setting up the necessary apps; and getting the P8 to as similar a layout as the P6 had been for handover. There was also a glitch in activating one of them which Patriot Mobile (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) took care of, called back later to check it was still 'ok' and dropped an email with an inside number to follow up if the problem resurfaced or showed up on the other phone. Stupendous service. REALLY happy with Patriot Mobile. Use them! The phone cases (Leyi For Google Pixel 8 Phone Case, courtesy WalMart) came before the phones by a day and are both beautiful suitable carriers for the P8 and excellent fits for little $10 ea. They are a little bit blingy, (in black it shows fingerprints, but the white is perfect), but suit the flagship P8. Overall we are happy with the choice.

The device looked perfect. I did send it back because I couldn't figure it out and no user manual with it. I'm sure it was a great phone - just not for me.

The Google Pixel 8 steps up as Google’s latest standard flagship, pushing software smarts and a solid camera in a clean, compact package. Released in October 2023, it’s one generation back from the latest but keeps the perks rolling with Google’s AI tools and thoughtful design upgrades. If you’re riding into 2025 and want a phone that knows what you need (before you do), this pixel might just hit the sweet spot—literally and figuratively.
Key features:The Google Pixel 8 is built for folks who want pure Android, seamless Google integration, and AI-powered photo tools—think students, Google loyalists, or anyone ready to ditch the digital clutter for something straightforward. Compared to the Pixel 7, the Pixel 8 brings a smoother screen and a little extra AI magic, but the real changes are subtle. If you don’t need zoom-crazy camera hardware (hello, Pro models), this is a smart, reliable pre-owned device with a user-friendly vibe.
Pros & Cons: Pros Cons Compact form factor comfortable for one-handed use. No telephoto lens for detailed zoom shots. Vibrant OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. Minimal hardware changes over previous generation. Pure Android experience with Google’s latest features and long software support. Can feel basic compared to some competing flagships (no periscope lens, no ultra-premium build).Going for a refurbished Google Pixel 8 keeps tech in the loop and waste out of landfills—a choice that helps you, your wallet, and the planet. Every pre-owned device from Back Market is inspected and tested to meet rigorous standards, so you get reliable performance without the new-phone smell (or the unnecessary packaging).
