iPhone 11 vs iPhone 12 mini Comparison

iPhone 11 vs iPhone 12 mini: big vs small, old vs new

The iPhone 11 and the iPhone 12 mini are still two of the most sought after iPhones on the market today, despite newer models entering the market since. The iPhone 11 was released in September 2019, while the iPhone 12 Mini was released in October 2020, making this model the more recent to choose from.

Everything upgraded on the mini, except the battery

Regarding camera quality, both phones are pretty much on par with each other, as they both have a 12 MP rear camera and 12 MP selfie camera. The only difference is regarding the video quality where the iPhone 12 mini slightly edges over the iPhone 11 with Dolby Vision HDR quality when recording, which is not available with the 11. The battery life of each phone is also different; with its 3110 mAh battery, you can expect up to 10 hours of web browsing or video streaming from an iPhone 11 while you can get up to 8 hours from an iPhone 12 Mini with its 2227 mAh battery. Likely due to the size of the mini which has a smaller body size, thus a smaller battery to fit in comparison to the larger iPhone 11.  In terms of display size and resolution, both phones differ as the iPhone 11 has a liquid retina LCD display, but the 12 mini display is upgraded with a super retina OLED display for a richer and more vibrant look. Size differences couldn’t be more apparent, with the 6.1 inch display on the iPhone 11 plus a resolution of 828 x 1792 px, while the 5.4 inch display on an Iphone 12 mini has a resolution of 1080 x 2340 px which is obviously  higher  Both phones come in multiple colors such as black, white, red, and green, but there are some choices unavailable between the two such as the iPhone 11 offering yellow, which is not available on the 12 mini, and the 12 mini offering blue which is not available on the 11 model.  In terms of storage capacity both iPhones offer the same choices with 64GB/128GB/256GB available. The iPhone 11 uses Apple’s A13 Bionic chipset, while the 12 mini uses a slightly newer A14 Bionic chipset, however both models seem visibly equally powerful to each other when it comes to performance speeds. They both can run on iOS 14 operating system as well. As far as design goes, the iPhone 11 is slightly heavier at 194 g compared to 135 g weight for iPhone 12 mini due to its bigger size but in terms of design shape itself, they both look relatively similar.

Verdict: entirely down to your preference in a smartphone

Overall, both phones have strengths over each other such as the iPhone 12 mini being noticeably better in terms of display and portability, which makes it the ideal device for those that prefer something sleek and simple. However, the iPhone 11 shines in terms of battery life and may be ideal for someone that likes to view content for hours and on a bigger screen.
