The Best Used iPhones to Buy in 2022
Which iPhone is the best value for your money?
Curious about the new iPhone 14 colors? Here are all the official colors for the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, along with all the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max colors you can choose from.
The latest iPhone release caused plenty of excitement with the debut of the dynamic island and the improved iPhone 14 camera. But what we really wanted to know from the launch event was: what colors will iPhone 14 come in?
iPhone users tend to fall into two groups: those who could care less about the color of their phone (it’s going straight into a case anyway, right?) and those who choose a phone based solely on the color. For those of us in the latter group, color is literally everything we need to know about the newest iPhone series. So without further ado, let’s introduce the colors for the new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models.
The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus come in five colors:
Seems like plenty of choices, right? Well, TBH we were a little let down by the colors presented at the September 2022 Apple Keynote event. Call us pessimistic, but the first thing we noticed about the five iPhone 14 colors is that there's really only one completely new shade.
Apple’s take on the darkest shade (Midnight), lightest shade (Starlight), and brightest shade (Red) were all previously released as iPhone 13 colors. Let's take a closer look at each of the iPhone 14 colors to see what’s really changed.
An instant classic, this intriguing almost-black shade made its debut on the iPhone 13 lineup. While the Midnight color appears black at first, a closer look reveals a slight navy blue tint. The darkest color in the shade range is often the most popular among iPhone users and almost every model comes in a black or almost-black color option.
Another repeat from the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini colors, Starlight is a warm shade of white. We could’ve guessed there would be a white color option for the iPhone 14—an OG color for Apple products, around half of all iPhone models come in a white shade.
However, the new shade of blue for the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus is different from earlier shades. Apple showed off its newest smartphone in a mellow and more muted shade of blue. Compared to the iPhone 13’s deep teal blue, this sky blue version is much lighter.
The first—and only—other iPhone available in purple is the iPhone 11. The iPhone 14 is a slightly lighter pastel purple color. It’s ideal for those who want a subtle touch of color rather than a saturated shade.
The boldest iPhone 14 color choice is a bright red. The (Product)Red color is a standout shade that’s been used on various Apple products for years. The iPhone XR was the first Apple smartphone to feature this color, and it’s been a popular choice for several models ever since.
Designed to stand out from the crowd, this color choice makes a statement that’s about more than just style. The Product(Red) shade is part of Apple’s partnership with the Global Fund, an organization committed to fighting AIDs, malaria, and tuberculosis across the world. In recent years, it has also dedicated funds towards the fight against COVID-19. A portion of proceeds from each new purchase of the iPhone 14 in (Product)Red go towards these causes.
The color red is associated with passion, vitality, and energy. If you’re looking for a bold red iPhone to express your personality, you can choose from many models that come in this shade.
There are four color choices for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max:
In addition to the classic metallics that we've seen before, the iPhone 14 Pro models come in a new softer shade of black and a buzzworthy deep purple.
Space Black is the darkest color option for the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. Compared to Graphite, the darkest color for iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, the new Space Black color is darker. However, it stops short of being a saturated pure black color.
Sitting comfortably between Apple’s previous shades of classic black and Space Grey, which have both been around for many years, Space Black is perfectly professional yet edgy.
The iPhone 14 Pro colors get back to basics with a silver option. A longtime favorite color of Apple fans, silver iPhones typically have a sleek, industrial look.
While the stainless steel casing of the 14 Pro models may look familiar, the silver color option doesn’t have the steely glare of previous iPhone models. Instead, it's brighter and fresh-looking with more white undertones. Fitting nicely with the “Far Out” theme of its release event, the iPhone 14 Pro silver looks more space-age than industrial-age.
RIP rose gold. Trends may come and go, but traditional gold will always be a winning choice. Since the release of the iPhone 11 Pro, only Pro models have come in a gold color option.
Popular among buyers of Apple’s Pro iPhone models, gold is a glamorous choice that compliments the design of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. Like the silver option, the metallic gold for the 14 Pros is paler than the more yellow-based golds we saw on previous models.
The Deep Purple color is the most talked-about and exciting shade to come out of the latest iPhone release. Instead of a muted mauve or vibrant royal purple, the 14 Pro and Pro Max come in a deep, dark shade of purple that’s quite different from the pale purple shade of the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus.
If you prefer a dark color for your iPhone but still want something more unexpected than dark grey or black, Deep Purple is the way to go.
As well as a choice of five colors, the iPhone 14 series offers users a number of new features. Instead of the well-known notch at the top of the screen, the 14 Pro models now have the new Dynamic Island. Updates to the iPhone 14 camera include an improved wide sensor and a faster aperture.
Video recording also improved, thanks to the new Action Mode. The selfie camera also features better low-light performance and auto-focus.
Instead of offering a Mini option in the iPhone 14 lineup, Apple brought back the ‘Plus’ model with a larger version. The iPhone 14 Plus features a 6.7-inch display for those who want the bigger screen without the bigger price tag of the Pro Max.
Safety was a common theme for two of the newest iPhone features. Crash Detection uses various sensors built into the iPhone 14 that can detect if you've been involved in a car crash. If you don’t respond to notification prompts, your iPhone will contact emergency services.
Satellite connectivity on every model in the iPhone 14 series can also connect you with emergency services in areas with little or no cellular service.
The iPhone 14 Pro models have some of the more exciting new features, including the Dynamic Island and Always On display. Using a low refresh rate, the new Always On display lets you see the time and notifications without unlocking your phone.
The camera system also got an upgrade with a 48MP camera on the 14 Pro and Pro Max. The 14 Pros now boast more megapixels than any other iPhone cameras.
Of course, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max come with a hefty price tag. The good news is that a bit of patience can pay off. If you want to enjoy these new features without breaking the bank, you can usually find much lower prices on the latest models of refurbished iPhones about a month or two after they’re released.

While the newest iPhone always sounds nice, the technology and design is usually not much different from the previous model, or the one before that, or… you get the point. In fact, we still rate the iPhone 11, 12 and 13 extremely highly when it comes to performance and quality. All three are advanced smartphones that offer plenty of powerful features and fast processors.
