It’s not even halfway through 2026, and things are looking up.
TIME magazine has named Back Market in its 2026 TIME100 list of the world’s most influential companies. In this sixth annual edition, the tech marketplace stands in good company alongside global heavyweights such as Netflix, SpaceX, and TikTok – recognizing businesses that are driving meaningful impact on a global scale.
Highlighting Back Market for its rapid U.S. growth and continued mission to prolong the lifespan of devices through circularity and repair, it notes how the French business is challenging the constant upgrade cycle by making high-quality and more affordable refurbished tech products a mainstream option.
In the last year alone, Back Market has launched an innovative Obsolete Computer category, shone a light on the e-waste pollution that happens over in Dandora, opened pop-up stores in Tokyo and New York City, and partnered with Google to revive written-off laptops.

And this isn’t the first time Back Market has caught the publication’s attention. The company’s co-founder and CEO, Thibaud Hug de Larauze, was listed in TIME’s 10 Most Influential Retail Companies of 2026 feature in April this year.
“We’re honored to be recognized by TIME as one of the world’s most influential companies,” says Hug de Larauze. “This acknowledgment reflects the global shift toward smarter, more sustainable tech consumption. As we continue to grow, especially in the U.S., our mission remains the same: to give people a better, more affordable, alternative to buying new tech and to extend the life of the devices we already have and rely on.”
Long may it last.
