Finding the best deal on the Google Pixel 6 this Black Friday

Updated Oct 19, 2022 - The holiday season is the most anticipated time of the year for some online shoppers to find deals! Maybe you’ve planned for months to get yourself an upgrade on your smartphone and have waited for the best deals on the Google Pixel 6 to drop on Black Friday or Cyber Monday. Lucky for you, you’ll no longer have to wait for the Holidays to find great prices on the Pixel 6 because Back Market offers discounts on smartphones and electronics all year long! Let’s take a closer look at Google Pixel 6 Black Friday deals and how they compare to Back Market.

What to expect on Black Friday Google Pixel 6 deals

Based on past trends, we can expect to see plenty of network carriers and retailers slash their prices for this model. For example, in 2021 Best Buy was offering an unlocked Pixel 6 128GB  smartphone for $549 or $499 if activated with a carrier. At the time, that was at best a $100 or 16% discount from the retail price of a new Pixel 6. In October 2022, Google still listed a brand new Pixel 6 at $599, but you might expect better deals this Holiday season since Google released the Pixel 7 on October 13th.

However, we expect most retailers to cap discounted prices on the Pixel 6 around 15-20% as usual when it comes to older smartphone sales. Conversely, you can find Google Pixel 6 128GB phones starting at $325 or 46% off on Back Market on Black Friday, Cyber Monday or any other day of the year for that matter! You can find even better deals on the Pixel 6 Pro starting at 55% off or $400 compared to the $899 new retail price at the time of writing this.

While you might find other Pixel 6 sales that seem enticing and bundle discounted prices with carrier contracts, you sacrifice your freedom and get locked in for a number of years. At Back Market we give you your freedom back. We care about your budget and have a wide range of deals every single day for unlocked Google Pixel phones (even when it isn’t Black Friday) with no contractual agreements - including a 1-year warranty and 30-day return policy.

Should I upgrade to the Google Pixel 6 on Black Friday?

As we mentioned, you will likely find some sort of deal or discount on the Pixel 6 on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, but if you absolutely need a new phone now, then you can shop any time of the year on Back Market for up to 70% off on smartphones compared to new.

Conversely, if you’re not in a dire need to upgrade your phone, it’s likely that your current phone model still works great. Black Friday shouldn’t be the only reason for you to buy a new phone and you can also help save on electronic waste by not purchasing the next newest phone model every year.

But we completely understand if you still want to upgrade your phone for a better camera, new feature, or faster processor like Pixel 6’s Tensor with Titan M2. You could wait for Black Friday deals every year, but why should you when you can simply trade in your phone for a discounted refurbished Pixel 6 all year long. You’ll save time, money and e-waste when you shop through Back Market’s Trade-in program.

Based on the specs alone, you can expect slightly better performance on the Google Pixel 6 Pro across numerous features when compared to the standard Pixel 6 version. The Pixel 6 Pro has a slightly bigger screen size, larger RAM size, additional storage version, additional telephoto camera of 48MP, bigger battery capacity etc. The technical specs on the Pixel 6 Pro are undoubtedly superior, but is it far ahead of the Pixel 6 and is the price increase worth it? For the price of new I would confidently say, “NO”. A new Pixel 6 Pro currently costs $300 more than the Pixel 6 ($899 vs $599), but the upgrades are subtle and nothing that the average user would notice in their day to day usage.

However, if you opt to buy refurbished (hell yeah!) then an additional $75 to upgrade from a refurbished Pixel 6 to a refurbished Pixel 6 Pro is much more manageable. If it is within your budget, then this slight increase is worth the money. So there you have it, opt for refurbished and get the best of the best with a refurbished Google Pixel 6 Pro. If you buy new, then the Pixel 6 is more than enough for the money you’re willing to spend.

Lastly, consider that there is absolutely no difference in terms of performance when comparing refurbished with new. All the devices listed on our market have been checked and restored with new parts by our experts to ensure many more years of usage. This reduces e-waste impacts on the environment and helps keep money in your wallet! We’re so confident in our quality program that we offer a 30-day money back guarantee and 1 year warranty on ALL of our products.

Where to find the best Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro Black Friday deals?

If you’re dead set on scoring a Pixel 6 this Black Friday, we can expect most network carriers and other popular retailers to offer discounts. This includes the Google Store, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Best Buy, Target and Walmart. You’ll likely be able to find these sales both online or in-store during the whole week of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Keep in mind that some of the promotions you might come across might offer hundreds of dollars off a new Pixel 6 with an eligible trade in. In order to get the highest discount, you’ll likely need to trade in one of the newest smartphone models, like the iPhone 13 Pro. Other promos will require you to activate a new phone plan and contract in order to receive your maximum discount.

Don’t forget to check out our Black Friday deals for even further discounts on what are already discounted products versus the cost of new! Even if it wasn’t Black Friday, we offer reduced prices on refurbished electronics every single day of the year.

When will 2022 Black Friday sales start for Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro?

Black Friday sales in general will always start on the last Friday of the month in November, so this year it will fall on the 25th of November to be precise. However, we’ve noticed common practice across retailers in the previous years to start their deals from the beginning of the week and all the way through to the weekend, followed by Cyber Monday deals the week after. At Back Market, you can find Black Friday-like deals any day of the year.

How to get the best Black Friday deal for your Google Pixel 6 or 6 Pro?

With Black Friday, there is always a concern that the product you’ve been waiting for all year-round suddenly becomes sold-out because everyone just jumps at the deals. To ensure you get the best deal you can get, we advise for you to:

  • Know exactly what you want: decide on the specifications of the phone you’re looking for, your budget for the phone, and not cave in to anything that sits outside of what you were initially prepared to part with. There will be a gazillion offers on this day and the last thing you want to do is regret the money you’ve spent.

  • Don’t wait if you don’t need to: keeping in line with the first point, we don’t advise waiting for a better deal to come around. If you find a deal that ticks all of your boxes, then more often than not, you won’t find a better offer in sight. We know how tempting it is to believe the very last day could offer a dramatic plunge in prices, but that rarely happens!

  • Research early and decide early: be aware of when all the retailers are having their sales and compare deals. After that, decide which one to go with, because it’s easy to get distracted with more offers from other retailers.

Having said all of the above, really the best Black Friday deal for a Google Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro is to buy a refurbished Google Pixel 6 from Back Market as early as possible! Our prices are already cheaper than any other retailer that is offering a new device, and you’ll get a 1-year warranty plus 30-days to return hassle free!
